One Thousand Wishes Series - We're Getting Better is a specially customized work by the artist for the 6th Suzhou-Jinji Lake Biennale 2023. The series is inspired by the folklore practice of blowing dandelions to make wishes. Dennis Brown collects beautiful blessings and wishes from ancient literature and folklore, and he has written hundreds of these beautiful visions into this work. The wishes are etched on special translucent acrylic panels, layered on top of each other, text on top of text, which ultimately form a three-dimensional view of the dandelion as it is blown away, thus allowing the artist to make the act of wishing real and visible.
