On July 17, 2016, UNESCO inscribed "The Architectural Works of Le Corbusier - An Outstanding Contribution to the Modernist Movement" on the World Heritage List, and Le Corbusier's Cottage is one of the 17 works on the list.

"The Chalet is both a work of art and a prototype for the concept of the smallest unit, which was at the center of the concerns of modern architects in the 20th century, and is based on an ergonomic and functionalist approach to design. "While the Hut is recognized as a work of art, it also echoes the spontaneous initiatives of self-built houses and rustic huts that have proliferated around the globe.
