Wang Shaoqiang, known as Houshan, was born in Shantou, Guangdong in 1969. He is currently the director of Guangdong Museum of Art, professor, doctoral supervisor, expert enjoying the special allowance of the State Council, and also the director of China Artists Association, vice-chairman of Guangdong Artists Association, researcher and doctoral supervisor of China Academy of Art, researcher of China National Academy of Painting. He was the Dean of the School of Visual Art and Design of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. He participated in the planning of the Guangdong Centennial Art Exhibition, and was the chief planner and curator of the Documentation Exhibition of the 2017 Guangzhou Image Triennial, the 2021 Guangzhou Image Triennial, and the 6th Guangzhou Triennial. 2008, he was selected as a training object of the "Thousand Hundred and Ten Project" of the universities in Guangdong Province, and was selected as a training object of the "Ten Hundred and Thousand Project" of the universities in Guangdong Province in 2009. In 2008, he was selected as one of the "Thousand Hundred and Ten Project" training objects of Guangdong universities, and in 2009, he was selected as one of the "Ten Hundred and Thousand" project training objects of Guangdong Province. "In 2022, he was honored with the 22nd Naples Cultural Classics Award for Artists. He now lives and works in Guangzhou.
