Born in 1966 in the Czech Republic, where she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Architecture and Design in Prague, Alena Matejka is an artist of the younger generation who continues to search for innovations in glass art. Alena Matejka's art is diverse, she creates large and small installations using glass, marble and stone, and combines glass with taxidermy or ice. She draws inspiration from myths, ancient legends and antique jewelry and connects them to her dreams.
