Wu Weishan is an internationally renowned sculptor. Deputy Secretary General of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Democratic League of the People's Republic of China (DLDPC), Director of the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC), Vice Chairman of the China Artists Association (CAA), Vice Chairman of the Committee on Professional Ethics of Literary and Artistic Workers of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC), and Chairman of the China Society of Urban Sculptors. He is a second-class professor of arts, a doctoral supervisor at Tsinghua University, Nanjing University and the China Academy of Art, the chief supervisor of the post-doctoral research station of Peking University and the National Art Museum of China, and enjoys the State Council's special governmental subsidy. Due to his outstanding achievements and influence, he has been awarded academician by Italy, Russia, Ukraine and other countries. In 2018, he was elected Corresponding Member of the Académie française des Beaux-Arts, becoming the second Chinese artist after Wu Guanzhong to receive this honor. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts and Sciences, the "Vlasisko Skaryna Medal", the highest cultural medal signed and awarded by the President of Belarus, the Michelangelo Medal, the first China Arts and Culture Award, the National Award for Workers of Virtue and Artistic Excellence, the Light of China Annual Award, and the National Award for Workers of Virtue and Artistic Excellence. China Light" Person of the Year, "2021 National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Award for Outstanding Performance of Duties" and many other international and domestic honors and awards. He is the creator of the "Theory of Rendering Sculpture", has published more than ten monographs which have been translated and published in many languages, and has created nearly 600 pieces of works which have been displayed in museums and plazas in many countries around the world. His sculptures have been exhibited in the National Museum of China, the United Nations Headquarters, the National Museum of Italy, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of the United Kingdom, France, Japan, Korea and other important museums and galleries at home and abroad. The Nanjing Museum has set up the Wu Weishan Sculpture Museum, and the Wu Weishan Sculpture Park has been established in Korea. His representative works include "Marx" sculpture in Germany, "100 Years of Monument" large-scale sculpture in France, "Divine Encounter - Dialogue between Confucius and Socrates" large-scale group sculpture in Greece, "Dialogue Beyond Time and Space - Da Vinci and Qi Baishi" large-scale group sculpture in Italy, as well as the large-scale group sculpture in the Exhibition Hall of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and the large-scale group sculpture in the exhibition hall of the CPC. In addition, there are the "Flag" and "Marx and Engels" in the Exhibition Hall of the History of the Communist Party of China, the "Confucius" in the National Museum of China, the "Confucius asking Laozi" in the Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the group sculpture of the Fragrant Hills Revolutionary Memorial Hall, and the group sculpture of the Memorial Hall for the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre of the Invading Japanese Army, and so on.
