Chin - A "water-oriented" exploration created from the spirit of tradition

Since ancient times, the Wu region has been rich in humanities and contains various cultural forms such as "water culture", "sericulture culture", "garden culture" and so on. And throughout the ages, "water" imagery, the flow of unrestrained, the spirit of the sea, not only is the Chinese cultural lineage of the visual symbol of the long history and continuity, but also the ancient and modern, Chinese and Western civilization collision, mingling of the reflection, highlighting the new era of China's cultural self-awareness, self-confidence, tolerance of the style and mindset.

The exhibition "QIN - Exploration of 'Waterward' from the Spirit of Tradition" focuses on "water", an imagery symbol that embodies the spirit of Chinese culture. The exhibition focuses on "water", an imagery symbol that embodies the spirit of Chinese culture. The exhibition is titled "QIN", which takes its meaning as "infiltration". Jade is said to have a "percolating color", which is colored by time and the surrounding objects, slowly and deeply, naturally, completely different from artificial coloring - just as the participating artists are far from schematic and stylized ink and brushwork, and use diversified knowledge and experience, expression out of internal logic, and a high degree of self-consciousness, toward traditional culture and culture. With a high degree of self-awareness, the exhibition aims to "activate" traditional cultural resources in a personalized way: going back to the source, keeping watch over the original heart, blending civilizations, and inquiring about the essence.

The exhibition attempts to develop the "waterwardness" of the internal operation mechanism on the basis of the "waterwardness" of the cultural dimension of the past and the "waterwardness" of the aesthetic dimension constructed by physicality, image and syntax. --On the basis of the "waterwardness" of physicality and the "waterwardness" of the aesthetic dimension constructed by object and image and grammar, the inner operating mechanism of contemporary ink and wash has explored the creative fusion of the logic, style and structure of the traditional spirit. The individualized aesthetic concepts and linguistic approaches from the same source trigger us to think about the significance of reactivating, reinterpreting and regenerating the traditional spirit as a collective cultural memory in the context of globalization and cosmopolitanism.

This exhibition presents 38 works by 10 representative artists in the field of contemporary ink painting: Shen Qin, Liu Qinghe, Cui Jian, Cui Jin, Chen Lin, Liu Mingbo, Sun Lei, Du Xiaotong, Zhang Jian and Wang Muyu. The artists, with their respective "water-oriented" explorations, reflect the deep connotation of traditional spirit, the vibrant cultural vitality, showing the value of interaction and integration of ancient and modern spirit, and, at the same time, highlighting the high degree of cultural self-consciousness and firm cultural self-confidence of the artists in the new era.
